Baer's pochards appear frequently in Gong'an Chonghu National Wetland Park

On June 26, a flock of Baer's pochards, a first-class animal under state protection, were swimming freely in the wetland in Chonghu National Wetland Park, Gong'an County. According to the monitoring data, the number of Baer's pochards in the park is growing significantly.

Chonghu National Wetland Park covers a total area of 1,475.11 hectares, including a wetland area of 1,454.91 hectares accounting for 98.63 percent. The park is divided into the wetland conservation area, the restoration & reconstruction area, the publicity & education demonstration area, the rational utilization area and the management & service area. Monitoring data in recent years show that there are over 140 species of birds here. In recent years, Gong'an county has vigorously implemented the "eco-friendly Gong'an" strategy, released measures to push forward projects of water system and quality protection, waterfront protection, habitat conservation and water body remediation, kept improving infrastructure and advanced wetland park construction, so as to develop the wetland landscape into an eco-tourism destination.
